2021 Crop Insurance Decisions

Purdue ag economists Michael Langemeier and James Mintert provided insight into decision making on crop insurance on March 1. The webinar reviewed corn and soybean crop insurance choices and provided producers with considerations for their 2021 options.

Crop insurance is an important aspect of nearly every corn and soybean farm’s risk management program. There are some new choices to consider this year, including the Enhanced Coverage Option (ECO). This webinar recording is a great opportunity for producers to review their crop insurance alternatives as the Purdue team walked participants through considerations for their 2021 choices.

Crop Insurance Tools discussed during the presentation can be found at https://farmdoc.illinois.edu/crop-insurance:

After two strong net farm income years in 2021 and 2022, net farm income has been below average for crop farms. Current projections for 2025 and 2026 suggest that net farm income will remain below average through at least 2026.
