On March 17, 2023, the Perrigo Company announced a voluntary recall of Gerber® Good Start® SootheProTM Powdered Infant Formula. The recall is due to the potential presence of Cronobacter sakazakii, a common bacteria found in the environment.
The recalled products were sold in the U.S., and manufactured at the Company’s Gateway Eau Claire, Wisconsin manufacturing facility from January 02, 2023, to January 18, 2023. Beside the presence of bacteria, Wholesale Grocers, Inc. (AWG) released a notice on the recalled product being distributed to its Nashville Division retailers. Thus, the product is being distributed from Nashville Division to AL, GA, IN, KY, OH, TN, VA, and WV individual retailers.
While Cronobacter sakazakii does not cause symptoms in most of the adults, it causes symptoms like fever, poor feeding, excessive crying or low energy in premature infants, infants under 2 months of age or infants with weakened immune systems. Consumers who purchased a product from any of these states are recommended to check their products with the stated codes and “use by” dates (on the bottom of the packaging). If any of them matches, they should immediately discontinue use and dispose of the product.
For any questions or concerns, customers can ask questions and get refunded by contacting the Gerber Parent Resource Center on behalf of Perrigo at 1-800-777-7690 anytime 24/7.
