Position Title: Forestry Technician

Location: Based in Ollie, Iowa, with work included in multiple southeast Iowa counties.

Job Description: The main job duty will involve invasive species management. The
technician will gain experience mixing and using herbicides safely and according to label,
identifying and controlling various woodland invasive species, and operating and maintaining
various equipment (UTV/ATV, trailers, chainsaws, backpack sprayers, etc). The technician will
also gain experience working with a professional private forestry consultant and gain familiarity
with NRCS programs such as EQIP and CSP. Map reading and navigation skills will also be
exercised. Technician will also be introduced to various other natural resource professionals
such as DNR district foresters and NRCS/FSA professionals.

Schedule: End of spring semester to the beginning of fall semester. This can be flexible.

Required Qualifications: Have a valid driver’s license & personal vehicle to drive to the Ollie
shop; Be comfortable using herbicides (all necessary protective gear will be provided); Be
capable of working outdoors, in remote locations; Be capable of carrying 40 pounds.

Hours: 40+ hours a week. This can be flexible.

Living Accommodations: Assistance finding housing will be provided. A $500/month housing
allowance will be provided in addition to the hourly rate.

Compensation: $15/hr. Clock starts once you arrive at the shop in Ollie and will continue until
you arrive back at the shop. Travel from the Ollie shop to the job site will be in a provided work
vehicle. A 30-minute paid lunch will be allotted daily.
