Description:  

 The Tennessee Division of Forestry is hiring twocrew members for the HWA Strike Team!
The eastern hemlock is facing extinction due to an invasive pest called the hemlock woolly
adelgid. Join the HWA Strike Team and help continue work towards an integrated pest
management plan on a landscape scale level. Travel and work in some of the most
beautiful and rugged areas this winter along the Cumberland Plateau and East Tennessee.

 

 

Compensation & Benefits:  

 

 $20.00 Per Hour

 No benefits. Travel expenses with per diem are covered most
weeks.

Responsibilities:  

 • Full-time, seasonal position October – May
• Forestry/Conservation experience preferred; training provided on job.
• State crew vehicle and personal vehicle utilized with mileage
reimbursement.
• Work on Cumberland Plateau and East TN.
• Work is in all weather conditions, rough terrain, and is physically
intensive.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

 Crew members will meet in Rockwood, TN on Monday mornings and travel to work
locations. Housing during the week is provided. Work week is around 40 hours per week,
four, ten-hour days. Most days the crew clocks between 3-8 miles of hiking off trail in
difficult terrain. Season starts October 14th and runs until May 1st.
