Canned Tuna Recall Expanded Due to Potential Botulism Risk

genova tuna productOn January 16, 2026, Tri-Union Seafoods announced an expansion of their February 2025 recall of canned tuna products. This recall is due to possible risk of botulism.  

Products affected by this recall expansion were sold in retail stores in California, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin. These products were sold in 5 oz cans, and the UPC of the affected products can be found here. 

Botulism is a rare but serious illness that can affect the nervous system. Symptoms include double vision, dizziness, difficulty speaking or swallowing, general weakness, and in severe cases muscle weakness or difficulty breathing. No illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported to date, 

Consumers who have these products should discontinue their use immediately and dispose of the product, return it to place of purchase for a full refund, or contact Tri-Union Seafoods directly for a retrieval kit as well as a coupon for a replacement product.
