Spring 2022 Digital Ag Seminar Series
A seminar series featuring Purdue University experts in data science and digital agriculture kicks off at 12:30 p.m. ET Wednesday, January 26 and is being offered both in-person and virtually via Zoom.
This semester’s Data-Driven Agriculture seminar series highlights the diversity of uses of data and automation in food and agricultural systems.
“Building on the momentum of past digital agriculture webinars, we are continuing to highlight not only how data is being used today but also explore its future potential,” said Dennis Buckmaster, agricultural and biological engineering professor and Dean’s Fellow of Digital Agriculture at Purdue University. “In this seminar series, researchers from across the College of Agriculture will showcase how they are using data to inform plant breeding decisions, improve crop and forest management decisions, detect disease in plants, and much more.”
The seminars start at 12:30 p.m. ET and speakers will present for the first 30 minutes followed by time for questions from the audience. Participants can attend the seminars in-person or virtually via the Zoom link.

- Jan. 26 – Hyperspectral Phenotyping in Precision Agriculture, John Couture, associate professor of entomology and forestry and natural resources
- Feb. 24 – Data-Driven Workforce Panel moderated by Bruce Erickson, clinical associate professor of digital agriculture
- Panel members include Keith Tinsey, Directory of Operations-Midwest, Black Gold Farms; Shrinivas Mane, Distinguished Research Scientist and Head of Computational Sciences, Elanco Animal Health and Robin Thomas, Early Talent Acquisition, Syngenta
- March 24 – Log Imaging Technology, Rado Gazo, professor of forestry and natural resources
- April 21 – Disease Detection Technologies, Christian Cruz, assistant professor of botany and plant pathology
