Purdue Student Chapter of American Fisheries Society wins award

The Purdue student chapter of the American Fisheries Society won the award for the most active student subunit of AFS as presented by the North-Central Division of AFS at the Midwest Fish and Wildlife Conference.

"I am very proud of how much the club has grown over the past two and a half years - from five students in 2017 to now more than 30 students," Purdue AFS advisor Dr. Mitch Zischke said. "They are now very active in conference attendance, public engagement and professional development. Grace Walker (current president), Lindsey Dice (last year's president, current vice president) and Jason Jaworski (2017 president, current communications officer) have worked extremely hard to grow the club."

AFS promotes scientific research and enlightened management of resources for optimum use and enjoyment by the public. It also encourages a comprehensive education for fisheries scientists and continuing on-the-job training.
