2026 Purdue Ag Alumni Fish Fry

On February 7, 2026, The Food Safety Human Factor Lab participated in the 2026 Purdue Ag Alumni Fish Fry. The purpose of this annual event was to reconnect, celebrate, and engage Purdue Agriculture alumni, students, faculty, staff, and community members for a day of networking and fellowship. Our booth was present at the event, where attendees were able to explore several of our current projects, including the VR Aquaponics Tour, the Eye Tracking Study, and the Food Safety Training Game. Visitors gained insights into our work and research by engaging these projects firsthand.

At our booth, visitors had the opportunity to participate in a virtual aquaponics tour using virtual reality. This experience allowed them to take a virtual walk through our aquaponic greenhouse and observe sustainable methods of food production. We also presented our Eye Tracking Study, where participants observed how eye-tracking technology is used to research consumer attention to food safety messages and flour packaging. In addition, visitors experienced our Food Safety Training Game, a virtual reality training tool designed to assist small-scale food processors in practicing food safety best practices in a simulated environment.
