Purdue ANSC Preview Days Showcase Opportunities for Future Scholars

Prospective students, seeking insight into the Purdue Animal Sciences Department’s programs and community, visited Creighton Hall of Animal Sciences on Feb. 22 during the department’s Preview Day.

The event, hosted by the Animal Sciences Ambassadors, introduced high school students to the educational, career and extracurricular opportunities the department and university offer. It also provided attendees with an in-depth look at the department’s curriculum, research initiatives and student life.

“Preview Days are fun events,” said Purdue Animal Sciences Department Head Paul Ebner. “They allow us to show prospective students our academics but also the types of experiences we offer that we know will ensure their post-graduation success.”

The ambassadors led tours of the department’s state-of-the-art facilities, engaging with students and their parents by answering a variety of questions. To conclude the day, the department hosted a luncheon for the visitors.

Preview Days are also unique in that the prospective students and parents are able to interact with 18 current animal sciences students to get their perspectives of our programs but also their advice on how to excel as a college student,” said Ebner, the advisor of the Animal Sciences Ambassador Program.

The Purdue Animal Sciences Preview Days continue to be valuable opportunities for high school students to explore their interests and learn how they can contribute to the field of animal sciences.
