2024 MACA Scholar Gains Industry Insights at Annual Conference

Katelyn King (Senior, Agribusiness, Brownsville, WI) was named a 2024 Mid-America CropLife Association (MACA) Scholar. As a MACA scholar, she also earned an all-travel expense-paid trip to attend the annual MACA Conference in Minneapolis, MN, Sept. 3-5. Before the event, she was connected with two MACA members who served as her host/mentor for the conference.

The MACA Young Leader Scholarship Program (YLSP) connects top agricultural students with the crop protection industry, offering opportunities for networking, career development, and a $2,000 scholarship. Recipients attend the annual MACA meeting, engage with industry professionals, and gain exposure to future career paths in agriculture.


Katelyn shared, “At the conference, I networked with industry professionals and fellow scholarship recipients and gained valuable insights into the crop protection industry and future agricultural trends through various speakers. The experience significantly expanded my industry knowledge and professional network.”

She applied for the opportunity in the fall of 2023 and was notified at the beginning of the spring 2024 semester. Katelyn participated in meetings leading up to the conference to better understand MACA and the industry. She added, “Their program is a fantastic opportunity for young professionals to become more involved in the crop protection industry.”
