AFA Leaders Conference Purdue Attendees

First-Year Students Gain Leadership and Career Insights at AFA Leaders Conference

Seven freshmen from the Department of Agricultural Economics were selected to attend the Agriculture Future of America (AFA) Leaders Conference in Kansas City this past November! As first-year students, they completed Track 1 of the 3 ½ day conference, which is structured to develop students in time management and goal setting and provide opportunities to explore various ag career paths.

After being encouraged by instructors in class, upperclassmen friends, and numerous e-mails, the students applied and were selected to receive one of the $1250 sponsorships by industry partners. This year, our freshmen were sponsored by ADM, Cargill, CHS Foundation and Syngenta. The other 67 Boilermakers who attended the 850-student conference had sponsorships from an array of corporate sponsors.
