Elle Misch Headshot

An early love for the purdue ag community

Name: Elle Misch

Hometown: Markle, IN

Major & concentration: Agribusiness Management; Global Food and Agriculture Systems minor

Why did you come to Purdue: I came to Purdue for the variety of choices, opportunities and flexibility in the pathway to graduate. Jo Thomas met with me on my tour and really sold the inclusive agricultural community, and I am so grateful for that.

Favorite Purdue tradition: BGR and the Ag Ice Cream Social

Top three influences at Purdue:

  1. Jo Thomas
  2. Jay Akridge
  3. Older ag students and alumni

Top five memories of your time at Purdue:

Some of my favorite memories at Purdue include cheering on the Boilermakers at football games with friends, where the energy in Ross-Ade Stadium was unforgettable. I also enjoyed the Ag Ice Cream Social, a fun event that brought together students and faculty over sweet treats. One of the most meaningful experiences was attending the Salt Company Conference over winter break, which helped me grow spiritually and connect with others. Taking fitness classes at the CoRec became a great way to stay active and relieve stress during the semester. And of course, late-night snack runs with friends always made for spontaneous and hilarious moments that I’ll never forget.

Something about you that is not listed on your resume: I enjoy volunteering with my local Campus Life at home.

Future plans: Upon graduation in December, I hope to sign on full-time with Walmart Dairy in Fort Wayne.

Advice for underclassmen: Don’t try to fit a specific mold or pathway that may seem perfect or “what everyone else does.” Choose what suits your passion the most, even if it’s hard. Your desire to follow your passion will pave the way and make it easier than the cookie-cutter path.

The biggest takeaway from Purdue:  There is an opportunity for everyone; do not feel like you have to change what you want to do. Also, the people around you are the biggest influence in your life during college; choose those who encourage and inspire you!
