Mediterranean Magic for Boilermakers Abroad
Juniors Madison Pearson (Agribusiness; Maxwell, CA) and Kylee Marlin (Agricultural Economics; Indianapolis, IN) enjoyed Spring Break 2025 with the “Discovering Agriculture, Food, History, and Culture of Greece” Study Abroad program. Purdue’s Department of Animal Science’s Dr. Alan Mathew and Ashley York led the 22 Boilermakers on this adventure!
After spending Spring Break 2024 in Ireland, Madison was ready for another Spring Break abroad. With a passion for animals, she chose this program, which was more focused on animal sciences. Her favorite activities were visiting the monasteries in Meteora, seeing the Parthenon and trying Greek food, while her favorite memory was being on the track for the first Olympics! Madison summarized, “The trip was super impactful on my overall Purdue experience. I was able to connect my studies with the experience in Greece. I had an amazing time and wish I were still there!”
Kylee had the following to say about her first time traveling outside the U.S.: “Being immersed in Greece’s vibrant culture, surrounded by ancient landmarks and friendly locals, felt like stepping into a whole new world. It was eye-opening to experience a place where history, modernity and tradition coexist so beautifully.” She added, “The chance to see landmarks like the Parthenon and the Acropolis up close was a dream come true. Plus, the Mediterranean lifestyle, amazing food, sunny days and breathtaking scenery were something I couldn’t pass up.”
